Kanjoos Makhichoos, directed and written by Vipul Meha, follows the story of Jamnaprasad (Kunal Kemmu), a frugal man who saves every penny he can, including stubbing out agarbattis after paying his respects to the gods. However, when Jamnaprasad’s parents, Gangaprasad (Piyush Mishra) and Saraswati (Alka Amin), go missing during a pilgrimage to Uttarakhand, he sees a financial opportunity. To obtain compensation, Jamnaprasad bribes Chaturvedi (Rajiv Gupta) and Yadav (Raju Srivastava), who are responsible for approving the payment. Despite its title, Kanjoos Makhichoos is not solely about parsimony. The film shifts to focus on Jamnaprasad’s journey from penny-pincher to scam-buster. The movie features sharp performances from the main actors, particularly Kunal Kemmu, who delivers a loud yet subtle portrayal of Jamnaprasad.
